New Bridge, Roundabout To Replace Orange Bridge

…As part of a $3.2 million project, a new bridge will be built nearly 300 feet north of the old bridge, and will realign Orange Road with the intersection of Carriage Road and state Route 315.
The new, two-lane bridge will be complete with a roundabout, but some residents aren’t enthusiastic about the new change.
“I’m not in favor of making carriage road a main route. They’re going to put a bridge up here, a bigger bridge, and it will probably influence the traffic on Carriage Road and there’s already a lot of traffic on there and I don’t want to see any more,” a resident said.
Engineers said they recognize that some residents are attached to the history of the Orange Bridge, but that they believe the new bridge will be a positive impact on the community.
The bridge is set to be complete by August 2009.
