So I was reading THIS article about the Governor’s stimulus package and I got to thinking…

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It’s crunch time for the Ohio Department of Development. They have until Sept. 15 to determine how to spend millions of dollars to stimulate the economy.
* This spring, Gov. Ted Strickland introduced the bipartisan package aimed at creating new jobs and economic development in Ohio.
* Currently, the unemployment rate in Ohio is hovering over 7 percent — the highest its been in 15 years.
* A lot of the money from the $1.57 billion stimulus package will go toward infrastructure and creating new jobs in emerging industries.
But, you can get a part of the billion-dollar pie.
I got to thinking that if a couple of members of City Council would’ve been more forward-thinking and approved the $3 milllion streetcar engineering study, we may have been able to get some of that stimulii. Planning is cheap, and when free money like this becomes available, it can really pay off.
