Meters made easy

Columbus residents who regularly park at meters and dread hoarding spare change to feed them can take advantage of a citywide, pre-paid debit-card system offered by the Parking Violations Bureau.
All the standard gray digital meters installed more than a decade ago have diagonal slots that can read special cards issued by Columbus’ parking enforcement agency.
Residents can purchase cards holding $50 at the bureau’s office at 400 W. Whittier St. When one is inserted into a meter, time is added in small increments, just like popping in a dime or a nickel.
