Flexcar (www.flexcar.com) is a Seattle-based company that provides a car-sharing service that’s quite a bit different than your standard car rental businesses.
According to their website: “Flexcar is the progressive way to get around town that saves time, money and the environment. Our low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles are conveniently parked near homes and workplaces. Members use them when they need them, paying just a simple hourly rate that includes gas, insurance and maintenance. It’s far less expensive than owning and operating a car, and much more convenient than renting. After all, why own the car when you can just own the drive?”
Anyway, they’ve currently got 20 vehicles on the campus of The Ohio State University. Has anyone had a chance to try out this new service yet? I’ve read one user review posted here. Sounds like it could be pretty beneficial to people who live close enough to utilize it. I’d like to see the service expanded to downtown somewhere myself.
