70/71 Split Fix September 2010 Newsletter

This is the first time I’ve noticed a reference to the new roadway along the east side of I-71 to be called “Elijah Pierce Boulevard.” I hadn’t heard of Elijah Pierce before I Googled him a second ago. No doubt he is a worthy person after whom to name the street, but can we just make it “Pierce Blvd?” I don’t like long clunky street names that have multiple words to them. After all, we don’t have “William Neil Avenue” or “William Starling Sullivant Avenue.” Or we could simplify it further and just call it Parsons Boulevard. Just some thoughts.
I’ve seen the name referred to at quite a few meetings, and I’m fine with it. I really doubt you’d have to use it too often though as I don’t believe anything will be using it as a building/mailing address. It’s really more of a glorified onramp, no?
