By JIM PROVANCE
BLADE COLUMBUS BUREAU CHIEFCOLUMBUS – The Ohio House yesterday overwhelmingly voted to authorize regional agencies that would have the power to impose tolls or share tax revenue to make priority roads, interchanges, bridges, and other transportation projects a reality.
…House Bill 166 would allow the Ohio Department of Transportation to create up to 24 regional transportation innovation authorities to focus on economic development-related road, bridge, interchange, rail, or other transportation projects designed to spur economic development.
The geographic-specific authorities would have finite life spans and could consist of governmental jurisdictions, economic development corporations, and businesses.
