I was surprised to see the reference to Harrisburg. Lots of Amtrak trains start and end in Harrisburg each day, but there’s no other commuter rail line. Regional authorities have been trying to get a heavy commuter rail project named “Corridor One” project, but the commissioners of the suburban and heavily congested county next door–Cumberland County–decided, in their infinite wisdom, to reject funding the project. Even the state transportation secretary made the boneheaded comment that, at projections for ridership at for startup, the state could just cut all those riders checks to pay for gasoline and parking.
Geniuses …
