Today would be a good day to be riding the rail transit…
Commuters stuck on snowy roads

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCHCommuters who normally enjoy a leisurely 30-minute drive to work found themselves sitting on the highway for up to two hours this morning, frustrated and late for work.
The roads were already slushy this morning when freezing rain added an icy coat in many areas.
Travel from Easton to Downtown took over an hour, as traffic slowed considerably near I-270.
The drive home tonight will depend on what happens with the weather the rest of the day. The forecast calls for sleet and freezing rain this morning, with up to ΒΌ-inch ice accumulation. Rain is forecast for the afternoon.

I did my usual, rode the bus today into work. While I don’t think the commute was much worse than normal at that time, it was nice not having to worry about it. I don’t have to sweat the nutty people driving too fast, or the ones who are still trying to talk on their cell while ignoring patches of ice/snow.
Another perk is not having to scrape your car out at the end of the work day.
Great point Walker. Even a BRT fan like me has to admit that rail beats bus for reliability in the bad weather.
I relish checking the ridiculous travel times on the internet (http://gcmtravel.org/gcm/maps_chicago.jsp) on those snowy days when my train commuter is still a flat 20 minutes.
