Business First of ColumbusAfter breaking its annual passenger record a month early, Port Columbus International Airport finished the year with traffic up 15 percent from 2006, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority reported Friday.
The authority said more than 7.7 million passengers used the airport in 2007, up from 6.7 million in 2006 and more than 10 percent above the airport’s 2000 record of 6.9 million passengers.
David Whitaker, vice president of business development and communications for the authority, said airport operators attributed more than half of the passenger increase from 2006 to Skybus Airlines Inc., the Columbus-based low-cost carrier that began flying in May.
