Earth Day will be celebrated in Goodale Park Saturday, April 26th. Bike to Work Week will be held the second full week in May. Mark your calendars!
As part of Earth Day there are some volunteers working on Transportation for the event. (The event will be at Goodale Park, plus 50 worksites.) The Transportation Committee is holding its next meeting Monday, February 4th at 6 PM. Contact Meredith Joy, meredith.a.joy@gmail.com to get more details. Here is what the group is working on, based on the googlegroups page:
- Creating an “Alternative Transportation Village” with booths for both companies and organizations.
- Getting volunteers from the morning worksites to Goodale Park.
- Encouraging people to get to Goodale Park, using alternatives to driving their car.
Bike to Work: The organizers will have their first planning meeting next Thursday, Jan. 31st, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Contact Austin Kocher, ackocher@gmail.com to get more details and RSVP. Here are excerpts from Austin’s considerbiking posting:
We have a great opportunity in front of us right now. Gas prices are forecasted to hit $4 per gallon by summer and with other environmental, social, and economic problems being stressed across the country, more people are looking to their two-wheeled buddies for help. Bike to Work Week is a great way to show people the benefits of cycling in a fun and safe way.
